Cochlear is a charcoal drawing inspired by MC Escher and Sir Roger Penrose, who coined the concept of "impossible shapes." This piece uses art as a visual language to discuss the feelings and philosophy underpinning the ideas of our perception of reality and how our senses define what we think and believe. The piece is drawn on a 22" x 30" cut of watercolor paper. The original work is framed in a custom built picture frame. This picture frame is built from ethically sourced lumber, with the piece floated on lauan plywood with a 1 inch gap from the frame, and a 1/4 inch gap from the glass.

This reproduction of my work is printed on 330 gsm hot press archival print paper. This museum quality print faithfully captures the fine details of the drawing down to the individual pencil marks. This print has no border. This decision was made due to the white negative space utilized in the work as well as maximizing the space available in the print. The print is rolled carefully into mailing tubes to avoid creasing or other damage during shipping.
